Rohit Sharma has successfully scored a Test ton on his comeback to the test side. A few days back, critics were criticizing his performance in the Board President’s XI match because of his poor performance. Everyone’s eyes were on Rohit Sharma on the first day of India vs South Africa test match.
He had last played a test match against Australia in late 2018. There was no logical explanation as to why the team’s management had dropped him from the playing side. His performance was also good enough to stay on the side. Unfortunately, the management had dropped him in the previous India vs West Indies series. This was the turning point where the media and fans started openly criticizing and questioning the decision to drop a player like Rohit Sharma.
This along with KL Rahul’s consistent failure went in Rohit’s favor as the management picked him in the side for the test series against South Africa. However, this time he was asked to open the innings for India for the first time. He is accustomed to opening the innings for India in the shorter formats. However, opening for Test match was a new challenge for him.
Critics made it more difficult as they started trolling him for getting out on a duck in the practice match. But to everyone’s surprise, Rohit has silenced all critics by his test century on his comeback. He walked in and there was not a single moment where he looked uncomfortable or clumsy. The fans and commentators were all praise for him as he scored a century. He is currently having a Test average of 92 on home turf.
He has a lot left in him as a cricketer and India has found an opener for the test format. We wish luck to him as we hope for another double century. He will resume his knock on Day 2.
