India vs West Indies series preview

India will begin as the firm favourites against the Windies, as the recent track record also suggests the same.

So after a top-notch series win against Bangladesh, India are all set to lock horns with the T20 powerhouse team West Indies! The series commencing from the 6th of December with 3 T20’s followed by as many number of ODI matches, with the first T20 being played in Hyderabad. It will be a great platform for the new-comers like Navdeep Saini and Washington Sundar and Shivam Dube to prove their mettle once again, and we would hope that Deepak Chahar to continue to flummox the batsman with his sheer pace and accuracy. Definitely we can expect an exciting contest on the cards especially for the T20 format as both the teams will begin with great momentum and confidence.

If India have Rohit Sharma then the Windies have the squash-buckling batsman in the form of Pollard and a lot of other interesting comparisons. We also cannot ignore the vast potential that batsman like Nicholas Pooran and Shimron Hetmyer posses in the middle order batting, along with other star players like Jason Holder and Carlos Brathwaite who can also come in Handy with the role as they are given a tag of all-rounders.

It will also be interesting to see the comeback of Sanju Samson into the site after a long wait, who replaced Shikhar Dhawan earlier owning to a knee injury. Also another massive talent awaits for India in the form of Shreyas Iyer, who’s performance in the near past seems to be more then promising and he is also touted as a next big think in the team as he also captained his side Delhi so well in this years IPL and generated a lot of confidence in his stroke play and batting performances. India might also view this t20 matches as a good practice ahead of the T20 world cup next year, I know its a bit early to talk about it, but in T20’s you can’t get any bigger opponent then the Windies and it will also be a great morale-booster for the new players who have just entered the scene and can be instrumental in moulding their mind-sets and tune them up really well with the seniors right in time before the tournament begins.
